BIOGRAPHY
Jennifer Nadel is a bestselling author, broadcaster, transformational leader and speaker.
She is a pioneer in the emerging field of compassionate leadership and politics and is Director of Compassionate Politics at Stanford University’s Centre for Compassion and Altruism Education. She speaks globally about the transformative power of compassion and provides training to those working in industry and the political arena including at the UN and the UK Houses of Parliament.
Her Sunday Times Bestseller, WE: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere, co-authored with Gillian Anderson, is a guide to inner and outer change and a rallying cry to move to a less me-centric society. It was featured on shows including CBS This Morning, The View, Dr Oz, the BBC and ITV. Jennifer continues to provide training based on it and to speak about the importance of purpose-based living.
Jennifer was also one of the UK’s most senior female television correspondents. As ITV’s Home Affairs Editor she was on TV most nights and was renowned for her investigative reporting and impactful journalism.
A specialist in DEI and women’s rights, her exposure of the use of rape as a weapon of war in Bosnia was used by UN War Crimes investigators and her book on abused women who kill is credited with helping to shift UK law as well as being made into a film and documentary. She has also written widely about the menopause and mental health drawing on her own experiences of burn out and the need to live purposefully.
Jennifer has worked in and around Westminster for over thirty years. In 2018, she co-founded the think tank, Compassion in Politics, which works on a cross-party basis with 100+ politicians in the UK to improve political processes and outcomes and their advice is sought internationally. The organisation is frequently in the press and was named by the Guardian as the ‘movement to be most hopeful for’. Its supporters include Ruby Wax, Gillian Anderson, The Bishop of Durham, AC Grayling, Professor Noam Chomsky and The Dalai Lama.
In 2022 she helped establish the Global Compassion Coalition which now has a global reach of millions. Her most recent book, How Compassion can Transform our Politics, Economy and Society, co-edited with Matt Hawkins, was hailed as a timely guide to creating a more compassionate world.
Her writing has appeared in most of the UK’s national newspapers. She is also a novelist,
poet and playwright. She is currently writing her fifth book on living a compassionate life.
