Michael Acton Smith is a serial tech entrepreneur and investor.
He is the co-founder and co-CEO of Calm, the leading digital health brand for mental fitness, meditation, and sleep. Calm has grown to over 90 million downloads, was the Apple 2017 app of the year, and is the world’s first mental health unicorn.
Michael’s Book “Calm” has been described as “a practical and pleasurable guide to twenty-first century mindfulness”.
Long fascinated by neuroscience, flow states and mental fitness, Michael is passionate about spreading meditation as a simple, but valuable skill around the world.
Prior to Calm, Michael Acton Smith was the founder of Mind Candy and creator of Moshi Monsters, the online world for children that grew to 80 Million registered users and expanded offline into books, toys, games, magazines, music and movies.
Michael’s first business was Firebox.com, the online retailer of gadgets, games and gifts, which he founded in 1998 with Tom Boardman. Among the products they invented was the Shot Glass Chess Set.
Michael also founded Ping Pong Fight Club and Berwickstock music festival.
In 2014 he was awarded an OBE for services to the Creative Industries.
